Till late sixties, separation of fibre from Tea was though done but was a big task, during early sevevties, experiment started with plastic pipe, on the theory of static electricity. An additional device was provided to electromagnetise the PVC pipe. It was designed as Rollers, which move at a slow RPM.
In due couse these Rollers of PVC pipe of higher diameter, moving on very slow speed, helped to extract more fibres from bulk teas. The experiment practically struck to a point of satisfaction and Tea Industry accepted the equipment largely. It was thus named Fibre Extractor.

MECHANISM

  1. The Roller, made of PVC pipe of 310 mm out side diameter, move very slow and attracts Fibre to its surface from the Bulk Teas travelling on a tray in backward forward motion.
  2. The fibres thus attracted magnetically, are scraped and are taken into chute to drop at one side of the machine. The clean tea drops from the front chute.
  3. To scrap the teas a felt is provided on one edge of the wooden Box (collector) which hangs on brackets in a style that the felt touches the total length of the roller with pressure. While scraping the fibre it generates and magnetises the surface of the PVC Rollers by friction. This helps PVC to attract more fibres.
  4. The total length of the tray is either aluminium dimple tray or is divided in 3 compartments (price of which is extra) having 1st part of blank dimples, where as the second & the third, have wire meshes which deliver sorted teas, thus two grades are available.

HOPPER

Hopper is fabricated out of M. S. sheet with adequate support Brackets mounted on the main frame of the machine. The hopper can be fitted with a Pre-sorter (OPTIONAL - Costs extra). A wooden frame with no. 6 wire mesh and a chute is joined below the feed hopper. The frame works as PRESORTER and separates bulks, cakes and unwanted particles.

MAINTENANCE

a. Greasing is necessary in 13 nos. bearing-blocks every fortnight and oil lubrication is required on link
    chains.

b. Felts described earlier, require replacement when torned out, generally once after six months if the
    machine works daily full time.

c. The outer surface of PVC Rollers becomes scratched and generally fine grooved. It is a very slow
process. In such circumstances the rollers should be placed on lather and trued to level and re-used.
